Patrick Hochleitner describes his artistic practice as Transformative Symbolism.

His paintings explore the invisible landscapes shaped by memory, transformation and human experience. Rather than depicting the external world, they reveal inner terrains where emotions, encounters and the passage of time leave lasting traces.

At the core of his work is the ongoing series Lebenslinien (Lines of Life). Fine linear structures move through the pictorial space like rivers, roots or neural networks, connecting organic forms that emerge, dissolve and reappear. These lines are not merely compositional elements; they become visual metaphors for relationships, growth and the continuous transformation of life.

The paintings evolve through layering, reduction and subtle shifts of light. Landscapes are understood not as geographical places but as emotional and psychological spaces—formed by memory, imagination and resonance. Light appears as a fragile presence within darkness, suggesting moments of orientation, hope and renewal.

Transformation is therefore not represented as an event but as an ongoing process. Symbolism is never illustrative; it remains open, inviting viewers to project their own experiences onto the work. Each painting becomes a field of resonance where perception, memory and imagination continuously interact.

Through Transformative Symbolism, Hochleitner creates visual environments that invite contemplation of the invisible connections between human beings, nature and the landscapes we carry within ourselves.
